§ Mike Ballard is a Certified Contract Advisor with the NFLPA and NBPA with extensive experience negotiating deals for highly valuable intellectual properties. With his training as an engineer prior to law school, Mike is unusually prepared to deal with the complexities of the salary cap and how they relate to available funds for player salaries. His commitment to honesty and integrity drives his pledge to vigorously advocate on behalf of his clients, generating opportunities for them and their family.
§ Mike holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a J.D., both from Brigham Young University.
§ When not working, Mike could be found at a sports field coaching one of his children’s sports team. On the rare occasion when he is not with his family or at work, he could be found tackling a technical single track in the mountains on his motorcycle, fly fishing a stretch of blue ribbon water, or trying to improve his golf game.
§ Over the years, Mike has found great satisfaction in serving others. Mike was an adjunct professor at the J. Reuben Clark Law School (BYU) for four years, has lectured at various universities on the topic of intellectual property, and currently serves in a two year leadership role for the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Mike enjoys coaching his boys, whether they are playing football, soccer or baseball. Mike also spends considerable time serving in his local church congregation.
§ Mike and his wife Kelly have four children and live in Draper, Utah.
§ Born in American Samoa where he lived until the age of seven when his family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. He played football for Farrington High School on the island of Oahu. His family later relocated to Anchorage, Alaska where he continued his football career at West High School. After graduating, he attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where he was a walk on and eventually received a full scholarship.
§ As an All American, he was heavily recruited by top D1 schools, but due to time clock restrictions, he was unable to attend any of these schools. He eventually attended Valdosta State University in the Gulf South Conference, in the state of Georgia.
§ He received numerous recognitions throughout his football career including All Conference, All American, Offensive Lineman of the Year, multi time Game MVP. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 1998 and has held various positions in this field.
§ His love for sports has brought him to his field of interest and is now an integral part of the MB Sports Management Team. He is fluent in the Samoan language and culture with a working knowledge of the Tongan language and culture. He has a deep desire to help kids from the islands make a better life for themselves and their families. His intimate knowledge of the game will have a tremendous effect on his ability to seek out talent and see abilities that others may not recognize.
§ Felise and his wife Celestia have eight children and live in South Jordan, Utah.
